School Psychologist 

Job Description        

Nature of Position

School psychologists are trained mental health professionals providing support for students’ academic, social, emotional and behavioral health. . This role will be a part of OCIC’s team based approach in sustaining each district's multi-tiered systems of support to meet the needs of students and staff through collaboration, consultation, and direct services. This position will operate as an advocate for and support of equitable mental health services and facilitate the development, implementation, and communication of a shared vision of mental health that reflects excellence and equity for all students and their families enrolled in the schools implementing the grant program. Additionally, this person will actively engage others in professional growth opportunities that support the grant program.


These positions will work closely with higher education entities, community mental health agencies, and the OK SDE to implement contractual services at schools. 


Preferred Qualifications

Doctorate Degree in School Psychology, or closely related field. 

Possess an OK School Psychology certificate, or eligible to apply for certification.

Consultation experience in Multi-tiered Systems of Support (i.e., OTISS, MTSS, ISF, PBIS).

Experience working in rural school districts.

Experience providing professional development to teachers in behavior and academic interventions, as well as providing didactic trainings to graduate students and other professionals regarding topics related to mental health and school psychology.

Knowledge of implementing grant funded programs and collecting and reporting evaluation data for effectiveness of program activities.

Experience providing supervision of graduate students in assessment, intervention, and consultation of children.

Knowledge and experience implementing Functional Behavior Assessments and consulting with schools on the development of Behavior Support 

   Plans.

Ability to identify evidence-based programs and quality research, as well as lead and conduct research in schools as related to grant-requirements.


Accountability

This position is directly responsible to Project Director and Executive Director; however, will also collaborate heavily with the Special Education Director.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Work directly with the school districts planning committees, including school based and community based mental health professionals.

2. Implement a menu of needs- driven, high quality program and services in adherence with the project’s goals and objectives.

3. Work with school districts to ensure alignment and integration of all programming with the administration’s vision and school day curriculum

4. Coordinate needs and resource assessment activities through employing a variety of strategies and including a broad cross section of 

   stakeholders.

5. Work with community partners to establish a positive social media presence and effective communication with families and community members.

6. Serve as a contact for community academic, health, and safety programs

7. Conduct assessment of student mental health needs and evaluate school mental health policies, activities and program

8. Support the evaluation of the project by supervising and coordinating the collection of data.

9. Provide support to member districts through the practice guided by the NASP Practice Model

10. Support multi-tiered systems of support at member school districts.

11. Provide instructional consultation at member school districts through assisting with data collection and interpretation, assisting with implementation of appropriate intervention, and review of intervention data to advise teams on appropriate modifications.

12. Provide behavioral consultation at member school districts through assisting with data collection and interpretation, assisting with implementation of appropriate intervention, and review of intervention data to advise teams on appropriate modifications.

13. Provide social emotional learning consultation through assisting with data collection and interpretation, assisting with implementation of

   appropriate intervention, and review of intervention data to advise teams on appropriate modifications.

14.  Support Special Education through review of special education records, consultation regarding students’ academic and behavioral goals and 

   strategies, conducting psychoeducational evaluations and re-evaluation in accordance with state and federal law.

15.   Perform any related tasks designated by Project Director or Site Supervisor.


School Counselor

Nature of Position

School counselors are trained mental health providers that support student’s growth in academics, social

emotional learning, and college career planning. This position will operate as an advocate for and support

of equitable mental health services and facilitate the development, implementation, and communication of

a shared vision of mental health that reflects excellence and equity for all students and their families

enrolled in the schools implementing the grant program. Additionally, this person will actively engage

others in professional growth opportunities that support the grant program.


Qualifications

Must possess or actively be seeking an Oklahoma teaching certificate for School Counselor. Must

   be able to work in a team environment that incorporates multiple services and supports for schools.

Experience working in rural school districts is preferred.

Ability to travel from site to site and must have a valid driver's license.

Possess strong collaboration skills and maintain positive relationships with administrators, facilitators, teachers, and project level leadership 

   teams.

Ability to identify evidence-based programs and quality research, as well as lead and conduct research in schools as related to grant-requirements.


Accountability

This position is directly responsible to Project Director and Executive Director; however, will also

collaborate heavily with the School Psychologists and other mental health team members.


Duties and Responsibilities

1. Interpret and use data for decision-making

2. Deliver evidence-based SEL prevention services at tier 1.

3. Collaborate/Implement appropriate interventions at all three tiers.

4. Lead small group counseling (T2) and/or behavior interventions

5. Provide individual counseling (T3)

6. Maintain appropriate documentation (e.g., complete SEL Lesson Completion Record)

7. Provide the Evaluator supportive documentation of project activities.

8. Participate in and lead regularly scheduled project staff meetings.

9. Attend on-site, project-related staff development workshops, as required.

10. Provide supervision of and direct consultations support to member district schools.

11. Perform any related tasks designated by the Project Director.

12. Provide and foster a healthy school climate

13. Build trusting relationships with students staff, parents, and community members

14. Model appropriate social interactions and professionalism

School-Based Social Worker 

Job Description

School-based social workers are trained mental health professionals providing support for students’ social and emotional behavioral health.  School based social workers will be a part of OCIC’s team based approach in sustaining each district's multi-tiered systems of support to meet the needs of students and staff through collaboration, consultation, and direct services. This position will operate as an advocate for and support of equitable mental health services and facilitate the development, implementation, and communication of a shared vision of mental health that reflects excellence and equity for all students and their families. 


Preferred Qualifications

Maintains certification as a school social worker or completing graduate training in the field of social work requiring field based practicum 

   experiences.  

Experience with or knowledge of Multi-tiered Systems of Support (i.e., OTISS, MTSS, ISF, PBIS).

Experience in implementing grant funded programs and collecting and reporting evaluation data for effectiveness of program activities.

Ability to identify evidence-based programs and quality research, as well as lead and conduct research in schools as related to grant-requirements.

Knowledge of expectations for the role of school social worker as established by local, state, and federal guidelines.  Knowledge of ethics and 

   practice as established by respective national organizations for school social work.  


Accountability

This position is directly responsible to Project Director and Executive Director; however, will be supervised by OCIC Mental Health Professionals.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Provide supportive documentation of project activities.

2. Work as an active member of an educational multidisciplinary team and participate in staff meetings.

3. Attend on-site, project-related staff development workshops, as required.

4. Provide direct consultation support and/or direct services to member district schools.

5. Ability to work in rural school districts and school sites

6. Provide direct services to districts and school sites regarding assessment, intervention, and consultation to best support students. 

7. Participate in community planning, development and organization of social and mental health services for schools.

8. Obtaining and coordinating community resources to meet students' needs

9. Provide social skills instruction to school age students in a classroom, group, and individual setting.

10. Support the mental health needs of students in the buildings assigned.

11. Respond to crisis events at sites and districts 

12. Consult and collaborate with teachers and principals regarding methods of helping students with problems and behavior dynamics.

13. Assist families to secure access to health services, clothing, and other material needs if these are preventing the child’s enrollment or attendance at school. 

14. Perform any related tasks designated by Project Director or Site Supervisor.


Mental Health Intern

Nature of Position

The purpose of PREPARE is to train school-based mental health service providers and build upon each district’s established Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) to provide direct prevention and intervention supports for students in partnership with institutes of higher education. This position will operate as an advocate for and support of equitable mental health services and facilitate the development, implementation, and communication of a shared vision of mental health that reflects excellence and equity for all students and their families enrolled in the schools implementing the grant program. Additionally, this person will actively engage others in professional growth opportunities that support the grant program.


Qualifications

Enrolled in the Appropriate Graduate program for a specific role: Doctoral, Specialist, or Masters in School Psychology; Masters in School 

Counseling; Masters in Social Work. 

School Psychology Interns must possess an OK School Psychology certificate, or be eligible to apply for certification. 

   School Counseling and School Social Work students must be enrolled in appropriate university courses for completion of their school based experience. 

Knowledge of Multi-tiered Systems of Support (i.e., OTISS, MTSS, ISF, PBIS).

Experience working in rural school districts.

Experience supporting professional development to teachers in behavior and academic interventions.

Knowledge of implementing grant funded programs and collecting and reporting evaluation data for effectiveness of program activities.

Participation in supervision experiences regarding assessment, intervention, and consultation to best support students. 

Knowledge of implementing Functional Behavior Assessments and consulting with schools on the development of Behavior Support Plans.

Ability to identify evidence-based programs and quality research, as well as lead and conduct research in schools as related to grant-requirements.

      Knowledge of course requirements and internship experience requirements relevant to the student’s roles as School Psychologist, School 

   Counselor, or School Social Worker. These requirements will be outlined in the OCIC Practicum & Internship Handbook and aligned with national   

   organizations ethics and practice for each role. Specific expectations for individual students will be addressed through  partnerships with individual    universities to meet the requirements of the coursework for the student.
