Who's on the OCIC Mental Health Team?
Through grant funding, the OCIC has been able to provide school based mental health professionals to support our member school districts. These professionals include: School Counselors, School Psychologists, and School Social Workers.
School Counselors help all students: 1) Apply academic achievement strategies; 2) Manage emotions and apply interpersonal skills; 3) Plan for postsecondary options (higher education, military, work force. This may include: classroom lessons, short term counseling, individual student academic planning, advocacy for student needs, and analyzing data to identify student needs.

School Psychologists help: 1) Improve academic achievement; 2) Promote positive behavior and mental health; 3) Support diverse learners; 4) Create Safe, Positive School Climates; 5) Strengthen Family School Partnerships; 6) Improve school-wide assessment & Accountability. This may include: direct work with students, collaboration and consultations with teachers and administrators, psych-educational evaluations and functional behavior assessments.
